At the Winery
Winery
Inspired by his time in Champagne, fifth generation winemaker Stefano Lubiana and his wife Monique selected Tasmania to fulfil their ambition to produce cool climate wines. In 1991 they planted Stefano Lubiana's first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines.
At Granton just north of Hobart, the vineyard overlooks the spectacular tidal estuary of the Derwent River. The large body of water adjacent to the vines provides a moderating influence on the vineyard's mesoclimate, keeping things cool in summer and warming the soil during springtime. In 2013 Stefano Lubiana were the first Tasmanian winery to be certified biodynamic. All the viticulture on site is carried out by hand and biodynamically managed.
Stefano Lubiana's flagships are Sasso Pinot Noir and Collina Chardonnay. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay also feature in their Sparkling and Single Block ranges, their Premium and Estate ranges include other cool climate varieties.
